The China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, was founded in the spring of 1957 and is held annually in Guangzhou in spring and autumn. Jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and the People's Government of Guangdong Province, and hosted by the China Foreign Trade Centre, the Canton Fair is a comprehensive international trade event with the longest history, the largest scale, the most complete range of commodities, the largest number of buyers from the widest range of sources, the best turnover results, and the best reputation, and has been known as ‘China's first exhibition’ and the ‘barometer’ and ‘wind vane’ of China's foreign trade.
